GLASGOW, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after breaking into an occupied home and punching a resident in the eye, and then proceeding to steal the victim’s cellphone after refusing to enter the passcode.
According to a criminal complaint, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 officers were dispatched to a residence on Third Avenue in Glasgow for an assault and larceny that had just occurred.
Upon arrival, police spoke with the resident and the second male who had been a victim of the assault and larceny.
They both gave recorded statements that a man, now identified as 30-year-old Shawn Patrick Winfree had kicked open the door to the basement of the residence, entered the residence, without permission, and began to assault the victim by punching him in the eye.
Winfree then grabbed the victim’s cell phone and demanded the passcode. The victim declined to provide the passcode and Winfree left with the cell phone without the victim’s permission.
Police then arrested Winfree and charged him with Daytime Burglary. He is currently out on bond.
