MASON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A man who called 911 claiming he had been shot in the face was arrested Thursday evening after deputies determined the report was false.
At approximately 7:46 p.m. on May 21, 2015, Charles R. Litchfield contacted Mason County 911, stating he had been shot. Deputies responded to the 4000 block of Jim Hill Road, where they found Litchfield walking and complaining of a facial gunshot wound.
However, after evaluating him at the scene, officers confirmed that Litchfield had not been shot and showed no signs of any injuries.
He was promptly arrested for False Reporting and taken to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office for processing. Following the booking, he was transported to the Western Regional Jail.
Authorities remind the public that false emergency reports not only waste resources but also delay response to real emergencies.
