PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A heated argument turned dangerous on Thursday, July 11, 2025, when a man pulled a gun and fired a round near a group of bystanders outside an apartment complex on 13th Street.
Detective D.W. Miller responded to the scene near 411 13th Street, where witnesses reported that Demetrius Thompson became aggressive during a verbal dispute with an unidentified woman.
According to witnesses, one person attempted to step in and de-escalate the situation. Thompson then turned his aggression towards the victim, pulling a pistol from his pants pocket. He racked the slide, ejecting a live round, and began waving the gun in front of several bystanders.
Moments later, Thompson fired a shot into the asphalt near the victim’s feet. The impact caused debris to fly, striking a bystander with pieces of broken pavement.
Thompson fled on foot to his apartment across the street but was quickly arrested by responding officers.
He faces multiple charges, and the case remains under active investigation. No serious injuries were reported.
