MASON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is arrested after firing a gun in multiple locations to release anger because he lost his dog.
On June 27, 2024, at around 11:06 PM, Officer A. Turner received a call from the Mason County 911 Center reporting shots fired in Hartford. Officer A. Turner located a male, identified as Dewayne Young, at a home in Hartford, WV.
Young, the man arrested after firing the gun explained that he had lost his dog and needed to release anger, so he began shooting a black 9mm Luger into the air and the ground in the vicinity of multiple people and within the city limits.
After firing the firearm, Young threw it onto his mother’s porch in Hartford, WV, and then walked to his residence. Officer A. Turner could not get statements from the individuals at the scene but received multiple calls to the Mason County 911 Center.
Chief Deputy C. Zirkle located the firearm at Young’s mother’s residence and shell casings around the Hartford Community Building. Young stated that if he were to be arrested, Officer A. Turner would have to come back later for something worse.
At that time, Officer A. Turner placed Young under arrest for wanton endangerment.
