MARTINSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after forcing his juvenile cousin to have sex with him on multiple occasions.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department (BCSO), on Tuesday, June 30, 2024, at approximately 9:49 PM, Corporal Derek Walker of the BCSO was dispatched to a sexual assault of a 13-year-old female on Bessemer Lane in Martinsburg.
Information was received that the accused, 19-year-old Michel Scott Vanmetre III held the female juvenile victim down and forced her to have sex with him in April 2024.
Information was also gathered in which inappropriate text messages were received by the juvenile from Vanmetre.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Division was assigned to assist with this investigation.
Sgt. Funk completed a forensic examination on the phone and extracted evidence for these allegations.
Deputy Jenkins reviewed the interview that was conducted by the Safe Haven Child Advocacy Center in which it was disclosed that the female juvenile had been having sexual intercourse with Vanmetre, who is also her cousin, since April 2024.
The victim advised that this occurred approximately ten times and went into great detail about these incidents.
Additional information had been received which led Deputy Jenkins to obtain an arrest warrant for the accused Michael Scott Vanmetre.
On August 1, 2024, Vanmetre was arrested and remanded to the Eastern Regional Jail on a $30,000 cash-only bond.
