RONCEVERTE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is in jail after getting mad because his girlfriend wouldn’t give him 40 dollars for a phone card.
On Friday, August 27, 2021, State Police were dispatched to the Cedar Knoll Trailer Park for a domestic situation in progress. When police arrived, the accused, Jeffrey Staples, stated that he and his girlfriend got into a fight because she would not give him 40 dollars for a phone card but would buy a phone card for another guy. Staples says he was kicked in the groin by his girlfriend.
When police interviewed the girlfriend, she provided an audio recording, and police were able to determine that Staples was actually the aggressor. Police could hear what sounded like physical strikes to the victim. Staples hit his girlfriend in the head. The victim stated that she did attempt to use her foot to push Staples away from her.
Staples is charged with domestic battery and domestic assault. He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 3,000 dollar bond.
