MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man faces charges after shooting his father in the leg, shooting and killing the family dog, and breaking the police cruiser’s window with his head.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, Jared Marshall Weatherly armed himself with a 12 gauge shotgun and went outside. Â The suspect’s father shut the door, and Jared Weatherly shot through the door, striking his father in the right leg, above the knee. Â Weatherly then went into the house with the shotgun and was headed towards the bedroom when he came in contact with one of the family’s dogs and shot her point-blank in the back, killing her instantly.
Weatherly then grabbed his wallet and took his dad’s Silverado truck. Â Deputies stopped the suspect, and he was placed into a police cruiser. Â While securing the scene and waiting for the ambulance to leave, the accused broke the window with his head, breaking the passenger rear window. Â The value of the SUV window is approximately 500 dollars.
The victim was transported to Princeton Community Hospital and was later transferred to a Roanoke hospital for his gunshot wound.
