FORT GAY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wayne County Sheriff Rick Thompson has announced that a suspect was arrested after opening fire on a Deputy early Monday morning.
Sheriff Thompson stated that a Deputy responded to a disturbance in the Right Fork of the Mill Creek area of Fort Gay. The suspect, Eric Evans, threatened neighbors with a Firearm and even fired shots.
When the Deputy was arriving on the scene Eric Evans fired multiple rounds from a high-powered rifle. Eric was in a driveway between two vehicles when he fired. Witness statements state that Eric was aware law enforcement was responding to the disturbance.
No one was injured and the suspect was arrested with the assistance of the WV State Police SRT team.
Sheriff Thompson stated that Eric Evans is charged with 4 counts of Wanton Endangerment and Assault on a Police Officer.
