MASON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mason County man is arrested after threatening to kill a woman, beat her dad, and assault her grandmother.
On the evening of June 22nd, 2024, deputies from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an active domestic disturbance at a residence on Charleston Road in the small town of Leon, West Virginia. According to the initial 911 call, the parties involved had already separated. Still, the male subject, identified as Griffin Barker, was believed to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
When the deputies arrived at the scene, they spoke with the female caller, who provided a detailed account of the incident. The victim stated that Mr. Barker had become agitated and thrown a shoe at her while also threatening to kill her and beat her and her father. The situation escalated further when Mr. Barker allegedly struck the victim’s grandmother in the arm. Attempting to de-escalate the confrontation, the victim asked Mr. Barker to leave the residence, but he refused and instead retreated to the bedroom, where he laid down.
Concerned for the safety of those present, the deputies then entered the home and located Mr. Barker in the bedroom. Assessing the volatile situation, the deputies arrested Mr. Barker and transported him to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office for processing. From there, he was taken to the Western Regional Jail, where he was to be held pending his arraignment before a judge.
Also, in Mason County, a husband and wife were both arrested after punching each other.
