BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A violent domestic incident in Beckley has left a woman hospitalized with serious injuries, which led to a suspect who allegedly used a wooden sword in the attack being arrested.
Beckley Police were called to Washington Street after a woman reported being beaten and injured by her partner, Christopher Parker, who allegedly kicked down her door and struck her repeatedly with a heavy wooden sword. Upon arrival, officers found the victim visibly shaken, her right arm swollen and bleeding, and she believed her elbow and possibly wrist were broken.
The victim told officers that Parker, who lives across the street at another location on Washington Street, initially left without incident when asked, but returned about 15 minutes later, forced entry into her apartment, and launched a brutal assault. During the attack, she attempted to call 911, but Parker reportedly smashed her phone with the sword, preventing her from contacting emergency services.
She said Parker then demanded she follow him back to his home and warned her not to scream. Instead, she ran down the street screaming for help, and a neighbor on Washington Street helped her call 911.
While medics transported the woman to Raleigh General Hospital, officers attempted to locate Parker, who was known to have multiple active warrants. They observed movement inside his home but were unable to locate him after entering through an unsecured back door.
At the victim’s apartment, officers observed signs of forced entry, including shoe prints on the door, a damaged frame, and dried blood on the bed and wall.
Parker has two prior domestic battery convictions from 2017 and 2019. As a result of this latest incident, he now faces multiple felony charges, including:
-
Burglary
-
Domestic battery (3rd offense)
-
Malicious assault
-
Interruption of emergency communications
