CLEAR FORK, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Wyoming County man is facing charges after a violent domestic incident late Monday night left a woman injured and a child frightened inside a home.
Deputies with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded around 11:02 p.m. on May 5, 2026, to a report of a physical domestic situation in the Clear Fork area.
When officers arrived, they found the victim visibly distressed and covered in blood, with multiple injuries to her neck, arms, face, and legs. She told deputies that her fiancé, identified as Franklin Stewart, had assaulted her after arriving at the home intoxicated.
According to a written statement, the victim said Stewart became angry after she told him not to come over. She reported he grabbed her arm, twisted it, and later choked her while asking, “Can you breathe?” during an altercation in the kitchen. The victim said she fought back using nearby objects before Stewart allegedly threw her to the ground, causing her to hit her head.
The victim also told deputies Stewart made threats against her and her children during the incident.
A juvenile inside the home told authorities she was awakened by screaming and later locked herself in a room out of fear while the situation escalated. The child’s statement corroborated the violent nature of the incident.
Deputies documented visible injuries consistent with the victim’s account and collected photographic evidence at the scene.
The Oceana Police Department later located Stewart in his vehicle and detained him until deputies arrived. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
Stewart is expected to face domestic violence-related charges as the investigation continues.
