MONTGOMERY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Sunday, November 11, 2024, a man was taken into custody after allegedly obstructing police efforts and displaying signs of being under the influence in Montgomery, West Virginia.
Detective N.D. Hall of the Montgomery Police Department observed the suspect, later identified as Steven A. Falbo, at approximately 4:00 p.m. sitting on a bench near Washington Street and Fourth Avenue. According to the detective’s report, Falbo appeared to be nodding off, prompting Detective Hall to approach him for a health and welfare check.
As Detective Hall engaged with Falbo, the suspect reportedly became belligerent and uncooperative. Despite instructions to remain calm, Falbo continued to act aggressively. When the detective attempted to conduct a safety check, Falbo resisted, stating, “Do not touch me,” and asserted that he was not going to jail.
After Falbo’s refusal to cooperate, he was arrested for obstructing and disorderly conduct. Detective Hall noted that Falbo exhibited behavior consistent with being under the influence of an unknown narcotic.
Due to Falbo’s refusal to enter the patrol vehicle, assistance was requested from Chief Workman, who helped secure him for transport. Falbo was then taken to the Montgomery Police Department for processing before being transported to South Regional Jail (SRJ).
The case remains under review as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
