MASON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was arrested after he set a fire that destroyed his neighbor’s home and laughed about it.
On September 13, 2024, a brush fire set on Ashton Upland Road spread from one property to another, ultimately destroying a home. Witnesses reported that Curtis Kemble, the neighbor and suspect, was standing nearby as others rushed to help the victim escape her burning home. According to the witnesses, Kemble was seen laughing as the fire engulfed the property.
During the investigation, Kemble admitted to the fire marshal that he had set the fire, indicating that it spread from his property line to the victim’s residence. He claimed that he did nothing to stop the fire as it moved toward the home.
Based on Kemble’s admission and the evidence gathered, authorities arrested him for his role in the fire.
