SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is in jail after burglarizing a home, stealing firearms and money from children.
On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at approximately 1:25 p.m., the Summers County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary complaint on Ellison Ridge Road in Nimitz. Deputy J.K. Farmer arrived on the scene and began investigating the incident. It was determined that several of the victims’ firearms and several hundred dollars that belonged to his children were stolen. Family members located the guns in a ditch adjacent to the house and were returned to the victim.
Chief Deputy T.S. Adkins arrived on the scene and began investigating further. Information was obtained suggesting the potential identification of the burglar. Chief Deputy T.S. Adkins arrested him a short time later for unrelated warrants. During the arrest, Chief Deputy T.S. Adkins recovered the stolen money and other miscellaneous stolen property from the suspects.
Douglas A. Huber, 42, of Nimitz, was arrested on two unrelated outstanding warrants for Domestic Battery. Mr. Huber is also being charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Destruction of Property, and Prohibited persons in Possession of a Firearm.
He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 51,000 dollar bond.
