SMITHERS, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – A Fayette County man has been arrested on several charges, including animal cruelty and domestic battery, after an incident that occurred at his home in November.
On Nov. 11, 2020, reports state that Fayette County deputies were dispatched to a post office parking lot in Smithers. The deputies were responding to a domestic incident that was longer in progress.
When they arrived at the parking lot, the victim stated that she and the suspect, Jeramie Adkins, 48, had gotten into a domestic incident at their home. According to the victim, Adkins was yelling profanities at her and was throwing various objects. She continued, stating that he had hit her multiple times in the chest, kicked her dog in the face, and cut the hose to her breathing machine.
Adkins, who the victim said had been using heroin, apparently threatened to kill the victim on several occasions throughout the night, saying he would “blow her brains out” if he had a gun.
Adkins was arrested on Feb. 2, 2021, on domestic battery, destruction of property and animal abuse charges. He is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail under a $2,500 cash-only bond.
