HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A disturbing assault is under investigation after a man was reportedly attacked, strangled, and beaten inside his own home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., a deputy responded to a residence following a call about an assault. The victim stated the incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. when he was awakened in his bedroom by approaching footsteps. Upon opening his eyes, he saw two suspects — Randy Peters and Tasha Spurlock — standing in his room.
According to the victim, Peters immediately began punching him in the face and then wrapped his hands around his neck, choking him for an estimated three to five minutes. He described the pressure as nearly unbearable, rating it a 9 out of 10, and said he feared for his life. The victim was also struck repeatedly during the strangulation.
The situation allegedly deescalated when the victim agreed to drive Peters to his mother’s house, at which point the violence stopped. He reported dropping the suspects off near River Cities on 3rd Avenue around 6:00 p.m. Before leaving, Spurlock allegedly attempted to dissuade the victim from contacting law enforcement.
The victim also noted signs of forced entry, stating the bottom door lock had been engaged, but not the deadbolt. He suspects Peters used a card or similar tool to gain entry. He further reported damage to his vehicle’s windshield and rearview mirror, believed to have been caused by Peters.
When deputies arrived, they observed visible injuries on the victim, including bruising, a facial cut, and swelling, along with minor cuts on his elbow and forearm. Emergency responders assessed his injuries, but the victim declined hospital transport.
Both Peters and Spurlock are being sought in connection with the incident. Charges may include strangulation, assault, and unlawful entry. The investigation is ongoing.
