POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A domestic disturbance turned violent Thursday night in Mason County, resulting in an arrest after a woman reported being assaulted by her intoxicated boyfriend.
Officers were dispatched to 1905 North Main Street on May 22, 2025, for a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, they spoke with the victim, who stated that her boyfriend, Robert Umbarger, became angry when she refused to argue with him.
According to the victim, Umbarger ripped her glasses off her face, then chased her down the hallway, grabbed her by the hair, and began punching her multiple times.
During the altercation, Umbarger’s son-in-law attempted to intervene and pull Umbarger off the victim. In response, Umbarger allegedly shoved him away.
Umbarger was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the incident.
