MINGO COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man faces child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury after he got mad over a letter the school sent home with a child.
State Police says that Travis Blankenship caused severe bodily injury to a young child because of a letter from the school. Blankenship, throughout the evening on October 4th, started striking the child in the face and head, placed a pillow on his head, and forced a piece of cloth into the child’s mouth, causing the child to choke.
Later in the evening, Blankenship snapped a wet rolled-up cloth, striking the child in the face and putting his hands around the child’s throat, choking him.
Police observed multiple marks on the child’s forehead, neck, cheeks, buttocks, and head. They also observed a broken blood vessel in the child’s right eye.
Blankenship is being held in Southwestern Regional Jail on a capias charge, strangulation, and child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
