MONTGOMERY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Fayette County man is facing serious charges after a reported domestic incident involving alleged strangulation and physical assault earlier this year.
According to the Montgomery Police Department, officers responded to a domestic battery complaint around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at a residence on 4th Avenue in Montgomery.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the suspect, Roger Brown Jr., who stated he had been involved in a verbal argument with his girlfriend, who had already left the residence before police arrived.
Roughly 15 minutes later, officers located the female victim at another address in Montgomery. She reported that the argument had escalated into violence on two separate occasions that same day.
According to her statement, the first incident occurred around 6:30 a.m., when the suspect allegedly strangled her by placing his hands around her neck and applying pressure, restricting her breathing and blood flow. During the assault, she reported losing control of her bladder. She also told officers the suspect threatened her life during the incident.
The victim further reported a second altercation later that day, during which the suspect allegedly grabbed her by the hair and dragged her through the apartment, causing multiple injuries, including lacerations to her foot. She stated she was then shoved out of the residence, falling onto concrete and injuring her hand.
Emergency medical personnel evaluated the victim at the scene, though she declined transport to a hospital. Officers documented injuries and collected statements as part of the investigation.
Authorities also confirmed the suspect has a prior conviction for domestic battery in Nicholas County in 2015.
As a result of the investigation, the man has been charged with strangulation and second-offense domestic battery.
He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
