BRENTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Brenton man was taken into custody early Friday morning after deputies with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a violent domestic disturbance.
According to a criminal complaint, deputies were dispatched around 12:24 a.m. to a residence in Brenton after a 911 caller reported that Timothy Vance had allegedly assaulted a woman and struck a juvenile during an altercation.
When deputies arrived, the victim told officers that Vance had been drinking since around 8 p.m. and began kicking and slapping her after she tried to ignore his behavior.
She said she was holding her youngest child when Vance struck her, accidentally hitting the child as well. Photographs were taken of visible bruises on her face.
Witnesses, including three juveniles, gave consistent statements to deputies.
One teen said he tried to intervene when Vance attempted to hit him, leading to a brief scuffle. Another juvenile reported hearing yelling and seeing Vance hit the woman, while a third said he restrained his father to prevent further violence.
Deputies later located Vance at a nearby residence, where he was arrested without further incident. During transport, Vance reportedly denied the allegations but told deputies, “I wish I would have beat the sh*t out of [the juvenile].”
Authorities noted a strong odor of alcohol on Vance during booking. Court records show he was previously convicted of domestic battery in May 2025.
Vance has been charged with, Child Neglect, Domestic Assault, and Domestic Battery.
He is currently at Southern Regional Jail on a $8,500 cash-only bond.
