WYTHE COUNTY, VA (LOOTPRESS) – Deputies find a deceased body inside a burning vehicle.
Wythe County Sheriff’s Department says on January 13, 2023, at around 3:47 am, first responders received a call of a fire at 403 Saint Paul Church Road in the Rural Retreat community. Â When first responders arrived, they found a vehicle on fire and a deceased body inside.
After deputies conducted several interviews and collected evidence, Calvin Junior Duncan II, 33, was taken into custody and charged. Â He faces charges of first-degree murder, arson, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and disposal of a dead body on private property.
The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke, Virginia, for identification. Â Duncan is being held in jail without bond.
Deputies say this is an ongoing criminal investigation, and more charges could be filed.
