Lebanon, VA (LOOTPRESS) – On December 30, 2021, Timothy Eulis Coleman, a 50-year-old man from Honaker, Virginia, was charged by warrant for first-degree murder for a shooting that occurred at approximately 12:09 p.m. Following a verbal altercation, multiple witnesses confirmed that Coleman shot and killed Scottie Ray Holmes.
After the shooting occurred, Coleman got in a motor vehicle and fled the crime scene.
Around 2:55 p.m. on December 30, 2021, officials from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle where Coleman left the scene on Sykes Drive in Cleveland, Virginia.
After finding the vehicle, an extensive search began for the suspect. The investigation was conducted by multiple county law enforcement agencies, as well as state and federal agencies.
On December 31, 2021, at 4:11 p.m., the Russell County Sheriff’s Office received information that the suspect was possibly located at Sykes Drive in Cleveland, Virginia.
Multiple agencies went to the scene and located Coleman on Sykes Drive. Law enforcement approached Coleman, and before he could be placed into custody, Coleman retrieved a pistol and shot himself.
Law enforcement then approached the suspect and attempted life-saving measures.
Coleman was transported to Russell County Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Zack Stoots stated, “After this senseless murder, we are thankful that no one else from our community or law enforcement was injured while attempting
to place the accused in custody.”
No other details will be released at this time, pending an investigation by the Virginia
State Police.
