CROSS LANES, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A gas station in Kanawha County remains closed after an armed robbery early Tuesday morning.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, around 5:15 a.m., Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to investigate an armed robbery at Little General, 932 Cross Lanes Drive in Cross Lanes.
Kanawha County Deputies were on the scene in less than a minute from the time 911 operators dispatched the call. The initial responding deputy learned that at approximately 5:15 a.m., an unknown race, a tall, slender male wearing dark clothing and a ski mask entered the store carrying a handgun.
The male fired a single shot into the ceiling before demanding the clerk give him all the cash in the registers. The clerk complied with the male’s demands and provided him with the cash.
The male then left the store towards the intersection of Big Tyler Road and Cross Lanes Drive. The events of this incident occurred in less than a minute and no patrons were inside the store during the robbery.
Three clerks were working when the robbery occurred, and thankfully no one was injured during the incident.
Initially, Dunkin’ Donuts was closed along with Little General; however, Dunkin’ has reopened business to the public while Little General remains closed.
Investigators with Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Section are on the scene investigating and working with management to secure surveillance and perform audits for the stolen currency.
Little General is expected to remain closed for several hours this morning while detectives process the crime scene.
Right now, officers believe this was an isolated incident and there are no current threats to the safety of the public, so we request that citizens return to their normal activities.
