CROSS LANES, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle at a Cross Lanes intersection Monday evening
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, March 6, 2023, at around 6:45pm, Sheriff’s Deputy A.L. Nichols responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Big Tyler Road and Washington Street W in Cross Lanes.
The victim, a 58-year-old male, was determined to have crossed the intersection on a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle turning from Big Tyler Road onto Washington Street West.
Reports from the sheriff’s office indicate that the individual operating the bicycle is suspected of having been under the influence of drugs and inattentive at the time the incident occurred. He was transported to Thomas Memorial Hospital to receive medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
While the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident was not found to be in violation of any traffic laws which could have contributed to the crash, they were cited for not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the vehicle reportedly suffered no injuries as a result of the incident.
