CHARLOTTE, NC (LOOTPRESS) – Charlotte Fire crews responded Saturday evening to a reported vehicle in the water at the intersection of Jerimoth Drive and Cuddington Drive.
According to the Charlotte Fire Department, the call came in at approximately 7:35 p.m. Callers reported that a pickup truck had lost control, left the roadway, and entered a nearby retention pond. Witnesses advised that the driver managed to exit the cab as the vehicle began taking on water and was standing in the bed of the truck.
The first arriving fire crews found the pickup partially submerged with the driver still inside the bed of the vehicle. Charlotte Fire responded with an engine company, a ladder company, Rescue 11, and Dive 11 to assist with the operation.

Firefighters made contact with the driver and successfully freed the individual at approximately 8:25 p.m. The rescue operation concluded just a few minutes later, at 8:28 p.m. The driver was treated at the scene, and no additional injuries were reported.
Charlotte Fire officials are reminding motorists to use caution while traveling, particularly near areas of standing water, and to avoid driving into locations where water depth cannot be determined.
