LOGAN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is charged after lying to deputies about who he was because he had just finished shooting meth.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the Mayhorn Drive area on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, due to a suspicious person complaint. When they arrived, they found the suspect, Brian David Nelson, 39, of Whitman, WV, walking in the road, acting strangely.
When deputies asked the man to identify himself, he first gave the name Zachary Belcher, but that didn’t show any results in the database. They asked him again what his name was, and he said Eric Nelson, which revealed no search results. Deputies asked the man for a third time what his name was, and he said Brian Nelson. When they asked Nelson why he lied about his name, he said he had just gotten done shooting meth.
Nelson was charged with public intoxication and two counts of obstructing. He is currently being held in Southwestern Regional Jail.
