WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was arrested Sunday following a theft and assault in downtown Wheeling.
Reports from the Wheeling Police Department indicate that authorities were dispatched around 4:30pm on Sunday to Heritage Port following the theft of a donation jar at the Pride Festival.
A worker informed police that he had witnessed a man take the donation jar at a booth before fleeing.
The worker stated he had attempted to stop the man, which resulted in a brief altercation during which the worker sustained an injury.
The suspect was located by officers at Windsor Manor on Main Street, where he was then arrested and transported to Northern Regional Jail. He was later arraigned by an Ohio County Magistrate with a bond set at $5,000.
Arthur Gene Torman Jr, 45 of Wheeling, faces charges of malicious assault.
