MASON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mason County man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a domestic violence incident that involved threats, property damage, and self-inflicted injuries.
At approximately 2:08 a.m. on January 15, 2025, deputies responded to a call at 440 Tanglewood Drive in Point Pleasant. The caller, Brandi Toles, reported that her son, Tyler Crump, was in the house and armed with a knife.
Arrest and Initial Investigation
Upon arrival, deputies searched the property and found Crump at the tree line near the house. He was detained without resistance and informed deputies that the knife was behind the tree where he was sitting. Deputies located the knife and observed that Crump had blood on his hand and superficial cuts on his left arm and right upper thigh.
Threats and Property Damage
According to statements from witnesses, including Brandi Toles and her partner, George Bailes, the incident began when Crump kicked in a door from his room and started arguing with Toles.
Bailes reported that Crump entered his room holding a butcher knife and threatened him, saying, “I’ll slit your throat, old man.” Toles stated that Crump acted aggressively with the knife, holding it within three feet of her in a threatening manner.
Crump also allegedly ripped a phone from the wall, knocked items off a coffee table, and damaged property outside the home. Toles reported that Crump used a propane tank to smash the windshield of her Cadillac SUV and destroyed an Arlo security camera on the porch.
Self-Harm and Threats of Suicide
Toles told deputies that Crump had threatened suicide during the incident and inflicted the cuts on his arm and leg himself.

Deputies documented the scene with audio statements, video footage, and photographs. After receiving medical clearance for his injuries at the RH Emergency Room, Crump was transported to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office for processing and later taken to the Western Regional Jail to await arraignment.
