BOMONT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Clay County man was arrested in the early hours of June 20 following a domestic disturbance call involving threats and alleged assault at a residence on Bomont Road.
According to a criminal complaint filed by law enforcement, officers responded to a 911 call placed shortly after 1:30 a.m.Â
A caller informed dispatch that her former boyfriend, identified as Robert Sheets, was making threats and was armed with a knife.Â
The caller also expressed fear for her and her sister’s safety, stating she believed Sheets would harm them if he discovered her on the phone.
Upon arrival at approximately 2:06 a.m., officers found Sheets asleep on a couch inside the residence and immediately detained him.Â
During interviews with those present, one witness said an argument had occurred earlier in the evening over tools, during which Sheets allegedly threw a tool at one of the women, narrowly missing her.Â
He also allegedly threatened to kill the other woman present during the altercation.
Though it was initially reported that Sheets had a knife, the victim later clarified that he did not threaten her with it during this incident, but he was known to always carry one.Â
Officers also learned that an emergency protective order had been filed against Sheets on June 18 but had not yet been served.
Sheets was arrested on charges of domestic assault and taken to the West Virginia State Police Clay Detachment for processing.Â
He was subsequently served with the protective order and transported to Central Regional Jail.
