GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On January 1, 2025, deputies from the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on Forest Lane near Lewisburg, West Virginia. The call was made by a third party, who reported an active altercation between the wife and her husband, Joseph McCoy, with allegations of physical violence.
Incident Details
Upon arrival, Deputy B. Mitchell and Deputy J. Doss encountered the wife at the door and separated the couple. The wife appeared visibly upset and avoided looking in Joseph’s direction.
Joseph McCoy admitted to deputies that the couple had been fighting for months. He alleged that his wife had spat in his face during the argument, which led him to grab her and throw her onto a couch.
In a separate interview, the victim recounted a pattern of escalating violence, stating that Joseph frequently choked her during their disputes and that emergency medical services had previously been called due to similar incidents. She alleged that during the altercation, Joseph placed his hands around her neck, threw her into the kitchen sink and cabinets, and continued to threaten further violence.
Arrest and Charges
Joseph McCoy was arrested at the scene and charged with domestic battery. He was transported to the Southern Regional Jail (SRJ).
