BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man faces child abuse charges after tying a child up to a pole in front of the house who ran away from home earlier in the day.
Boone County Deputy E.C. Givson was sent to the West Virginia State Police Sylvester Detachment on May 19, 2024, after a male individual called requesting law enforcement assistance.
While en route, Dispatch informed Deputy Givson that a mother had reported her juvenile son missing from their home on Coal River Road earlier that morning. Dispatch also provided a description of the child’s clothing in Sylvester.
During the interview with the deputies, the child revealed that he had gotten into an argument with his mother and her boyfriend, Joshua Reid, earlier that morning.
The child further disclosed that Joshua Reid had subsequently tied him to a pole in front of the house.
Joshua Reid has been arrested and charged with child abuse and creating a risk of injury. He is currently held in Southwestern Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
