BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – AWAY’s annual Purple Halo Gala event is set to take place this month, and Marie Bechtel has been announced as the recipient of the Purple Halo Gala Award.
The Purple Halo Gala Award is given each year at the Purple Halo Gala event in recognition of community leaders who go the extra mile to provide support and assistance to members of the community, specifically to those who have endured instances of domestic and/or sexual violence.
“AWAY is PROUD to announce this year’s recipient of the Purple Halo Gala Award, Marie Bechtel!,” said AWAY in an announcement. “Marie is passionate about helping AWAY in any situation. She meets our victims where they are and is always willing to help. No matter the day or time Marie is always willing to lend out a helping hand. We appreciate Marie and all her hard work and dedication over the years!”
A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, West Virginia University, and WVU College of Law, Marie Bechtel, Esq. has served as supervising attorney of the Beckley office of Legal Aid of West Virginia for over a decade. In her role, Bechtel emphasizes cases involving survivors of domestic violence and work providing assistance to individuals attempt to overcome civil legal barriers to employment.
For over a decade, Bechtel has also operated her own private law practice, Bechtel Law Office, PLLC. In this role, she often serves as a guardian ad litem in cases involving children.
AWAY (formerly the Women’s Resource Center) will be hosting the third iteration of its Purple Halo Gala event at the Historic Black Knight Country Club this year with the theme, “Havana Nights.” The event is scheduled to be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
