HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Marshall University’s flight school has introduced two new financial aid options aimed at making pilot training more accessible to students.
First, private student loan provider Sallie Mae has approved loan options for non-degree-seeking students.
This allows individuals to pursue pilot training without enrolling in a traditional degree program.
The new option is particularly beneficial for those looking to change careers or obtain pilot licensing as a micro-credential, providing a flexible path into the aviation industry.
Additionally, Marshall’s professional pilot program has been accepted into the Academic Common Market, a partnership through the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB).
This designation allows students from 16 states—where a flight training degree is not offered and where no state restrictions apply—to enroll in Marshall’s program at in-state tuition rates.
“Marshall is pleased that we can now offer these important options to our students,” said Nancy Ritter, chief aviation operations officer at Marshall. “The expanded access helps lower the financial barriers for students all around, offering them an affordable and high-quality aviation education.”
The new financial aid options are available immediately and apply to Marshall’s Bill Noe Flight School in Charleston, West Virginia, as well as its satellite locations in Wheeling, Lewisburg, and Martinsburg.
The Professional Pilot program is not eligible for Veterans Affairs benefits at this time.
