HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Marshall University’s College of Science is offering a series of engaging summer camps for students entering sixth through eighth grade.

Held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Science Building on Marshall’s campus, the camps provide hands-on learning experiences in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Lunch and snacks are included each day.

Each camp costs $250, except for the June 30–July 3 session, which is $200 due to the shorter week.

Here’s the summer lineup:

  • June 9–13: Physics & Math
Campers will launch rockets, design devices to protect eggs from high drops, and build musical instruments. Math fun includes puzzles and games that explore patterns and problem-solving.
  • June 30–July 3: Exploring Animal Behavior
This session focuses on how animals interact with their environments. Students will study wild birds and conduct experiments with fruit flies to understand physiology and behavior.
  • July 14–18: Nature HERDventure Camp
Each day brings a new outdoor science adventure, exploring topics like ecosystems, plant and animal life, soil, water, and human environmental impact through fieldwork and experiments.
  • July 28–Aug. 1: Chemistry & Microbiology
Campers dive into the microscopic world, learning about bacteria, fungi, and tardigrades. Activities include hands-on experiments that link microbiology with chemistry.
