Mary Ann Belcher, 77 of Princeton died Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at her daughter’s residence from a short illness.
Born April 27, 1946 in McComas, WV. She was the daughter of the late Ben Bernard Beggs and Edna Lucille Hedrick Beggs.
Mary Ann was a salutatorian of Matoaka High School and also a graduate of Bluefield State College. She was a former Vice President at Bailey Lumber Company in Bluefield with thirty plus years service. This was the 1st time a female had held such a position. She then retired as a West Virginia State Auditor and still worked part time for Griffith and Associates.
Mary Ann loved to go to yard sales, work in the garden, plant flowers, spend time with grandkids, and shop. She was an active member of the Elks and Moose Lodge. She was also previously an active member of the Mercer County Humane Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Morris Wayne Belcher; and two brothers, Charles Benjamin Beggs and Dr. Alvin Lee “Doc” Beggs.
Survivors include her only daughter, Holly Eskew of Princeton; two grandchildren, Justin Henley and his wife Bree and Jacob Henley; father of her daughter and close friend, David “Curly” Eskew of Princeton; and two sisters, Eva Ernestine Beggs Lee of Princeton and Dr. Joyce Marie Beggs Mills of Charlotte, NC. Companion James Powell and his daughters, Josh and Heather Wilson and Danny and Crissy Hurley and their children especially Piper Hurley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm. Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Dr. Ed Pettus officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the service hour on Sunday. In keeping with Mary Ann’s wishes her body will be cremated following the service.
