WELCH, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The McDowell County Commission has announced plans to host a community meeting to discuss the future of Welch Community Hospital and gather input from residents about healthcare services in the county.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the McDowell County Commission Armory Building, located at 600 Stewart Street in Welch.
According to the commission, the issue affects all residents of McDowell County, and citizens are encouraged to attend, ask questions and share concerns regarding the future of healthcare in the community.
Commission officials said elected representatives at the local, state and federal levels will be invited and personally contacted about the meeting.
The commission stated that residents deserve answers, transparency and an opportunity to be involved in discussions surrounding the hospital’s future.
The commission also encouraged residents to attend the meeting to hear directly from officials and to see which elected representatives participate in the discussion.
Community members are being asked to help spread awareness of the meeting, with county officials emphasizing that the future of healthcare in McDowell County is an issue that affects the entire community.
