MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A McDowell County man was arrested Tuesday after authorities say shots were fired as two Child Protective Services workers were leaving a residence in the Mohawk area.
According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded June 30 to a report that shots had been fired at two CPS workers in the Dairy Lane area.
The sheriff’s office said the workers had gone to the residence of Ricky Dale McMillion, 63, of Mohawk, in an effort to locate a woman believed to be staying there. Authorities said the purpose of the visit was to notify the woman that a CPS case involving her was being closed.
As the CPS workers were preparing to leave the residence, one or more gunshots were reportedly fired, according to investigators.
Deputies responded to the scene, conducted an investigation and arrested McMillion in connection with the incident.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be considered as the case is reviewed.
Anyone with additional information about the incident is encouraged to contact the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.
McMillion is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
