MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mercer County man was arrested after deputies say he stole an ATV, damaged property, became involved in a physical altercation with a family member, and later returned to the residence while heavily intoxicated.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a residence on Marion Street in the Princeton area on June 3 following multiple calls involving Kevin Robertson.
The incident began when Dreama Miller contacted Mercer County 911 to report that her brother, Robertson, was intoxicated and had stolen an ATV. Miller later advised dispatchers that the ATV had been returned and initially stated that law enforcement assistance was no longer needed.
A short time later, however, Miller called back and reported that her son, Rosser Miller Jr., and Robertson had become involved in an altercation.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with Rosser Miller Jr., who said Robertson had fled the area on foot down Marion Street. Miller told deputies he believed Robertson was either intoxicated or under the influence of drugs when he allegedly took his mother’s vehicle key and stole the ATV.
According to Miller, he later located Robertson riding the ATV near his mother’s residence and ordered him to leave the property. Robertson reportedly walked away but returned about 10 minutes later.
Miller told deputies that Robertson approached him with a raised fist. After pushing Robertson away, Miller said Robertson continued advancing toward him, leading to a physical struggle. Miller stated he wrestled Robertson to the ground and attempted to restrain him, but Robertson eventually broke free and left the area.
During the investigation, Miller also reported that Robertson had caused significant damage inside the residence. Deputies documented damage that allegedly included the top portion of a garage door, various kitchen items, and a hole in a bathroom door. Photographs of the damage were taken as evidence.
Miller, who advised deputies that he holds durable power of attorney for his mother, estimated the total property damage at approximately $600.
Hours later, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Miller contacted Mercer County 911 again to report that Robertson had returned to the residence.
Deputies responded and located Robertson asleep on a couch inside the home. According to the report, Robertson appeared to be extremely intoxicated.
Robertson was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault and destruction of property. He was transported to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department for processing in accordance with department policy.
The incident remains under investigation.
