BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Bluefield man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he forced his way into a woman’s home, threatened her with a knife, and damaged her vehicle during a domestic incident early Thursday morning.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Mercer County Magistrate Court, Sgt. H.D. Browning of the Bluefield Police Department responded to a residence on Warren Street around 1:38 a.m. on August 7 after a 911 caller reported a domestic disturbance involving a knife.

When officers arrived, they located the suspect, 42-year-old William Marrs, on nearby Hardy Street and detained him. Police say the man was visibly intoxicated, with slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol.
He was placed in the back of a patrol car while Browning returned to speak with the woman who had called for help.
The woman told officers the man had come to her home intoxicated and started arguing with her. She said she became frightened and left the house, only to see him walking away as well.
When she returned home, she said the man ran inside, sat on her couch with a knife, and grabbed her by the arm.
According to the complaint, he told her that if he was going to jail, it would be for a “good reason” and threatened to kill her.
The woman said she managed to get her phone and began calling 911, prompting the man to chase her to her car.
Police say he attempted to reach her through the vehicle’s window, then struck the windshield with the knife, causing it to shatter. He allegedly fled before being quickly taken into custody again.
Officers recovered the knife and documented the damage to the vehicle, which was estimated at $300.
The suspect was taken to the Bluefield City Police Department, where police say he became aggressive during the booking process and had to be placed in an isolation cell.
He is charged with burglary, third-offense domestic battery, third-offense domestic assault, destruction of property, and public intoxication.
Court records show he has multiple prior convictions for domestic incidents, including a 2022 conviction for third-offense domestic battery.
Marrs is currently at Southern Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
