PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man is behind bars after attempting to meet someone he thought was a minor.
According to a criminal complaint, on March 16, 2023, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint, that Frederick Goodwin, a 49-year-old male resident of Princeton, was communicating with a purported minor via Facebook Messenger.
From March 16, 2023, to March 20, 2023, Frederick Goodwin, after being advised he was speaking with a 14-year-old female, engaged in sexually explicit communication with the purported minor. He told the purported minor that he wanted her to come to his house, where he would perform sexual acts.
On March 20, 2023, Frederick Goodwin made arrangements to meet the purported minor at the park and ride, located on M.t Horeb Road. He walked from his residence to the meet location, where he was arrested by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.
Goodwin provided a statement stationing that he admitted to communicating with the purported minor via Facebook Messenger and that they spoke about sexually explicit activities.
He admitted that they were to meet at the park and ride but denied having any intent to follow through with the discussed conduct.
He was charged with soliciting a minor via computer. Goodwin is currently at Southern Regional on a $20,000 bond.
