MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – In response to the unsubstantiated threats circulating on social media about local schools in Mercer County, specifically PikeView High School and PikeView Middle School, officials are implementing additional safety measures.
Out of an abundance of caution, the presence of law enforcement will be increased on both campuses.
Superintendent Edward Torman and Safety Coordinator Melissa Clemons say, “The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are taking all necessary steps to keep everyone secure.
Parents and guardians, we strongly encourage you to monitor your child’s social media activity closely and have conversations about the seriousness of their words and actions. Students, please note that the most severe disciplinary action will be taken against those found to be making threats.
We urge you to report any threats that could harm our students, staff, and community. Remember, “If you see something, say something.””
