LINDSIDE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – It’s been a banner week for Midland Trail athletics, and Friday night’s victory made it even better.
Fresh off the school’s first-ever state championship — a Class AA golf title — the No. 8 Midland Trail Patriots capped the week with a thrilling 28-25 road win over the No. 10 James Monroe Mavericks.
In a back-and-forth battle, the Patriots held on late to secure their sixth win of the season, improving to 6-1 and keeping alive their hopes of hosting a playoff game. James Monroe dropped to 5-2 with the loss.
Midland Trail will return home next Friday to host the Liberty Raiders, while James Monroe will look to bounce back on the road against the Westside Renegades.
