FLATWOODS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia State Police continue searching for a missing and endangered Braxton County man who has not been seen since last week.
According to the West Virginia State Police, Trooper First Class Posey and Trooper Cooley of the Sutton Detachment responded on June 24 to a report of a missing and endangered person in the Flatwoods area.
Family members told troopers that 71-year-old Martin Craig Cogar, of Flatwoods, was last seen during the evening of June 19 at his residence on Long Fork Road.
State police said Cogar has known health conditions, including diabetes, and does not possess or use a cellular phone.
Search efforts began immediately and included the use of K-9 teams, but investigators said no significant leads have been developed.
Cogar has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a Missing and Endangered Person, and a Silver Alert has been activated.
The West Virginia State Police, along with assisting agencies, said they continue to actively investigate Cogar’s disappearance while search operations remain underway in the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
