MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Monongahela River is now cleaner thanks to thirty volunteers.
On West Virginia Day, June 20, the West Virginia Water Research Institute’s Three Rivers QUEST program teamed up with Ascend WV to organize a Monongahela River Sweep.
Thirty volunteers participated, removing over 1,225 pounds of trash from the waters, banks, and trails of the Monongahela River.
The Three Rivers QUEST program, based at the West Virginia Water Research Institute, led the event to further its mission of preserving and protecting the Monongahela, Ohio, and Allegheny rivers.
