FAYETTEVILLE, W.V. (LOOPTRESS) – A customized Monopoly game all about America’s Coolest Small Town is currently in stock at the Fayetteville Walmart. The store announced the arrival of the game via Facebook on Monday.
Fayettevilleopoly is a production of Late for the Sky, an Ohio-based company that has been making specialty board games since 1984. For nearly 40 years, the company has been taking suggestions and making custom game boards for non-profits, communities and corporations.
Michael Shulte, marketing manager for Late for the Sky, said an initial test order of 720 games was delivered to the Fayetteville Walmart on July 18, 2021.
According to Shulte, Late for the Sky works with Walmart on a regional level across the United States to put out as many city games in Walmarts located within that city as possible.
“We all have civic pride and are proud of where we come from,” Shulte said. “Everyone has played the game at some point in their lifetime. Why not have it be about your town or your home or your hometown? You can’t get more relatable than your own town when it comes to a Monopoly game.”
Fayettevilleopoly honors the best parts of Fayetteville, West Virginia, and features the New River Gorge, the Historic Fayette Theatre, various city streets and outdoor activities and even comes with Fayetteville-specific game pieces.
Shulte says Late for the Sky is currently releasing city games weekly and says the company will continue to supply Fayettevilleopoly as long as people are interested in the game.
The Fayetteville Walmart is located at 204 Town Center Road in Oak Hill.
