Shortly after the 2024 Oscars, it’s unsurprising to see a few past Academy Award-winning films sitting among Hulu’s most popular movies. Joining these prestigious options are some tried and true action flicks as well as some relatively new releases.
For high-brow film lovers, Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Favourite,” a satirical film about power, manipulation, and frivolity set in Queen Anne’s court, joins the list. The 2018 film snagged a Best Actress Oscar for Olivia Colman and was the first collaboration between Lanthimos and Emma Stone, who just won the Best Actress trophy for her work in his latest film “Poor Things.”
Sci-fi classics like the original “Ghostbusters” (a great family-friendly option) also appear on the list, bolstered by the upcoming March 22 release of “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” featuring members of the original crew and their descendants. A different kind of sci-fi epic is also enjoying massive streams on Hulu thanks to a newer installment in the franchise: Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune.” “Dune: Part Two” was released just March 1 and has already surpassed the first installment’s worldwide box office earnings.
To see what else landed among Hulu’s most popular movies, Stacker used data from Reelgood as of March 13, to rank the top 10.
