FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has issued the following information regarding a motor vehicle accident on Christmas Eve: “On the evening of December 24, 2025, the driver of a motor vehicle traveling on Gatewood Road just outside of Oak Hill, in Fayette County, lost control of their vehicle which resulted in the vehicle leaving the roadway, striking a utility pole, and then ultimately striking a family residence causing significant damage to the residence.
The driver of the motor vehicle was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Due to the medical condition of the driver, the driver was immediately transported from the scene by EMS for medical treatment.
At this point, the motor vehicle accident is under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. The investigation has proceeded slowly and has been hindered because the driver of the vehicle had to be immediately transported from the accident scene for medical treatment. As the driver had been transported from the accident scene, the investigating officer was not able to evaluate the driver at the scene, nor was the investigating officer able to conduct a complete investigation while at the scene.
The investigation into the motor vehicle accident is progressing as quickly as possible under the circumstances. Once the investigation is complete, a police report will be prepared and reviewed, and a decision will be made as to what, if any, criminal charges will be filed against the driver.
