MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Mount Hope Fire and EMS is recognizing its members for their service during a busy two-week period that included providing fire and EMS coverage for several major events across the region.
According to the department, personnel provided around-the-clock fire protection during the 2026 National Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, helping ensure the safety of thousands of Scouts, leaders, staff and visitors from around the world.
During the Jamboree, fire crews:
- Responded to 32 calls for service
- Logged 44 hours of training
- Provided six hours of public fire education
- Completed 23 hours of event coverage
The department said these efforts “reflect the unwavering commitment of our members to maintaining the safety of the Summit Bechtel Reserve and all attendees of the Jamboree.”
In addition to the Jamboree, Mount Hope Fire and EMS provided medical coverage for the Punishers LEMC Thunder in the Gorge Motorcycle Ride and the ACE Country Music Fest, helping ensure the safety of participants and concertgoers throughout both events.
The department noted that the assignments required long days, sleepless nights and extended time away from family, but said its members remained committed to serving the community.
“We are deeply grateful to every firefighter, EMT, paramedic, officer, support member, and our mutual aid partners who contributed to the success of these events,” the department said.
The department also thanked residents of Mount Hope and surrounding communities for their continued support.
“It is an honor and privilege to serve you every day,” the department said.
