MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mount Hope man faces charges after police find explosives on him.
According to Mount Hope Police, on Monday, August 16, 2021, police observed a man sitting on a stone wall across from the library. When the officer approached him, they attempted to wake him up, but it took numerous attempts. Police asked the suspect, Jesse Cline, if he had anything illegal on him. He replied, “no man, you can search me.” Police found a piece of metal pipe about 5 inches long in his left pocket. The pipe had a cap on each end and some sealant around the threads of the caps. There was also a green wick coming from one end of the pipe. Police observed it to be a pipe bomb and secured it. The suspect told police that it was just a homemade firecracker.
Mount Hope Police then contacted the WVSP Bomb Squad to dispose of it properly.
Cline is a convicted felon for grand larceny. He was charged with illegal possession of destructive devices and explosive materials. He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000 dollar bond.
