FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Multiple people are facing charges after a Fayette County burglary investigation led troopers to stolen jewelry that had allegedly been sold at a Beckley gun store just days after the break-in.
According to the West Virginia State Police, troopers responded to a burglary complaint on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at a home on Faith Way in Fayetteville.
The homeowner told investigators she had been away from the residence since April 19 due to a family illness and returned to find a side door forced open, causing approximately $500 in damage. Troopers said the victim’s bedroom had been ransacked while the rest of the home appeared largely untouched.
Among the items reported stolen were a box of assorted jewelry valued at approximately $900, a .22 caliber Heritage Rough Rider revolver with an American flag grip valued at about $400, and a white clothes hamper worth around $60. The total reported value of the stolen property was approximately $1,360.
Two days later, on April 23, the victim contacted investigators after employees at Flat Top Arms reportedly recognized the stolen jewelry when she described it over the phone.
Troopers traveled to the business and recovered several pieces of the stolen jewelry. Investigators also reviewed surveillance footage from April 21 that allegedly showed a man and woman selling the jewelry at the store for $456.
The individuals were identified as Tiffany Nichole Smith, also known as Tiffany Johns, and James Takota Lee Puckett.

Police said surveillance footage also showed the pair arriving in a gray Kia Forte with Virginia registration plates. Troopers reportedly observed a white clothes hamper matching the stolen item inside the vehicle, along with another passenger identified as Shane Steven Jones.
Authorities said Jones was later arrested on warrants charging burglary, grand larceny, destruction of property, and conspiracy.
During his arrest, Jones allegedly told investigators that he drove Robert Alderman and Treresa Dixon to the Fayetteville residence, where he claimed the pair broke into the home while he waited outside. Jones allegedly admitted to helping carry the stolen items, including the clothes hamper, to the vehicle before transporting them to Alderman’s residence in Oak Hill.
Following the statement, troopers obtained a search warrant for the residence and reportedly recovered the stolen hamper seen in the surveillance footage.
Investigators said additional warrants are being sought for Alderman and Dixon on charges including burglary, grand larceny, conspiracy, and destruction of property.
